Turning off Spam Filters

On this page we will assemble a list of how to disable spam filters that various email systems use so that you can receive QuickNotes.

At present, we have the directions for Yahoo and SBCGlobal email (below).  If you have another email system that is filtering email, or know how to disable spam filtering for a system that we could post here, please email editor@thsgembcorp.com.


Yahoo! Mail

  1. Open your Yahoo! mailbox.
  2. Click Options (it is in the upper right corner).
  3. Click Mail Options from the dropdown box
  4. Click Create or Edit Filters in the center of the page
  5. Click the Add button.
  6. In the top row, labeled ‘From Header:’ make sure Contains is selected in the pull-down menu.
  7. Click in the text box next to that pull-down menu, then enter the address editor@thsgembcorp.com
  8. At the bottom, where it says “Move the Message To:” select Inbox from the pull-down menu.
  9. Click the Add Filter button near the bottom of the page.
  10. If any email from  THSGEMB has been filtered to your “bulk” folder, simply open the newsletters and click on the “This is not Spam” link next to the “From” field.

 

You should also make sure that your Yahoo mail isn't blocking THSGEMB.

  1. After completing the above, click on "back to mail options"
  2. If your screen now says "Yahoo Mail Classic" in the upper left corner:
  3. Click on Block Addresses in the center of the page
  4. Look in the list of address under Remove Block
  5. if you find editor@thsgembcorp.com
  6. Click on editor@thsgembcorp.com
  7. press Remove Block
  8. If your screen now just says "Yahoo Mail" (with no Classic)
  9. Click on Spam in the left column
  10. In the section marked blocked email addresses
  11. If you find editor@thsgembcorp.com
  12. Click on editor@thsgembcorp.com
  13. press the remove button
  14. press Save Changes at the top of the screen
